Collection: Art for Living Room
Choosing the right artwork for your living room can completely transform the space. As the central area of the home, the living room is where artwork has the most impact—bringing together furniture, colour and atmosphere.
Studio Elwood’s collection of abstract wall art for living rooms is designed to create balance and presence, whether you’re styling a relaxed coastal space or a refined modern interior. Each piece is created by Australian artist Tory Burke and is available as a limited edition giclée print or original artwork.
What Size Artwork Works Best in a Living Room?
Scale is the most important consideration.
As a general rule, artwork should be approximately 60–75% of the width of your sofa to feel proportionate and connected to the space.
For example:
- 2m sofa → artwork around 120–150cm wide
- 2.5m sofa → artwork around 150–180cm wide
For larger spaces, consider extra large artworks or multi-panel pieces to create a strong focal point.
Single Artwork vs Diptych
Both approaches work beautifully in a living room:
- A single large artwork creates a bold, simplified focal point
- A diptych or multi-panel piece adds structure and works well across longer walls
Placement Tips
- Hang artwork approximately 15–25cm above the sofa
- Centre the artwork with the furniture
- Keep spacing consistent for multi-panel pieces
Framed or Unframed?
- Unframed canvas creates a relaxed, modern look
- Framed artwork adds structure and refinement
